Overview
Are you interested in understanding how environmental exposures like air pollution impact human health? Do you want to join a highly motivated research team that uses state-of-the-art scientific tools to drive policy changes that protect all of society? Dr. Christopher Carlsten and his team is looking for highly motivated graduate students. Currently, our team is focusing on understanding the impact of traffic-related air pollution and other environmental pollutants on individuals living with disease like asthma and COPD. Trainees who thrive in our group are individuals passionate about making scientific discoveries while simultaneously trying to appreciate how their scientific work translate to solve real world issues.
Selection Criteria
- Experience in molecular biology techniques
- 80% (B+) or higher undergraduate Grade Point Average
- Undergraduate degree in biology, immunology, microbiology, pharmacology or similar, is an asset
- Knowledge in biosciences such as molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry or health biosciences is a strong asset
- Highly motivated person with strong interest in translational research
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must demonstrate being able to work both independently and in team to achieve self-defined goals
Dr. Carlsten and his team have strong track record of supervising and mentoring trainees at various levels to launch into a diverse career paths. Trainees will receive a monthly stipend in accordance with the university graduate studies requirements. However, they will be highly encouraged to apply for their own funding through different scholarship opportunities.
